Previous Concerts this Season:

Our concert last May 28th, with the 20-piece orchestra, was a resounding success.  Eight of us from the chorus sang in a performance of Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living” at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June, as part of a combined chorus of 200 singers from around the country.

Consider singing with us!

Windsong Southland Chorale rehearses on Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Windsong Southland Chorale Mission Statement:

Windsong Southland Chorale is a multigenerational choral organization

that unites singers in their passion to perform choral masterworks, as well as cutting edge, contemporary works,

for the education and pleasure of the performers and our audiences, both locally and internationally.

We aspire to be an inspirational catalyst for the renaissance of the art of choral music.

"Requiem for the Living," a work by Dan Forrest that celebrates life, survival and comfort, will be the featured piece at the Windsong Southland Chorale's season finale on May 28, 2023.

The chorale will perform at 4 p.m. at La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church at 1040 Baseline Rd. in La Verne, CA. Dr. Janet Harms will direct.  The Chorale will be joined by the Bells of Windsong directed by Joan Hamm.  The choir will also be joined by the 21 piece Windsong Orchestra.  The group will also present a number of favorite choral anthems featuring the choir, bells and orchestra.

The Requiem for the Living is a five-movement work will "form a narrative just as much for the living and their own struggle with pain and sorrow as for the dead," writes Dan Forrest, the composer, in 2013.

Forrest was inspired by images from the Hubble Space Telescope and Earth views from the International Space Station for sections of the piece.

The chorus will also feature compositions by Henry Mollicone, John Rutter, Natalie Sleeth, Daniel Bird, Tom Fettke and Joseph M. Martin.  The concert will also feature the world premier of “Concertpiece for Orchestra and Organ” written by local composer, arranger and violinist, Kristin Simpson, who will also be participating in the concert.

We are very excited for our 29th season of Windsong.  We have an amazing schedule this season and hope to see you at all of our performances.  We are excited to announce we will be moving to the Claremont United Church of Christ in Claremont, California for the concerts year.  It is located at 233 Harrison Street in the beautiful city of Claremont, right off Indian Hill Road.
